Manhattan is full of entertainment choices, but the Brooklyn Brewery takes you away from the city and settles you down with a variety of ales, stouts, lagers and more.

The current new location, established in 1996 is in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood at 11th street, between Berry and Wythe. The atmosphere in this place is absolutely phenomenal. Don’t expect a long mahogany bar and stools; this place is strictly business. A friendly barkeep is willing and ready to serve whatever you desire and then it’s off to the picnic tables to enjoy your newly acquired treasure.

For any beer aficionado, the 8 tap selection of Brooklyn Brewery’s finest creations will be enough to make you wish you’d discovered it earlier. Don’t expect to sit down to a hamburger and fries with your beer either; the Brooklyn Brewery is all about the beer. They have something that will appeal to just about anyone, from their classic Brooklyn Lager to the exotic Black Chocolate Stout; there are a host of “regulars” and seasonal brews, that add to the ever-changing appeal of Brooklyn Brewery.

Every week sees its share of events as the Brooklyn Brewery likes to keep its visitors entertained and coming back for more. Every Friday, 6pm marks the start of happy hour where the drafts are only $4. Live music is a regular weekly feature at the bar end of things and tours of the high tech brewery that is set within an old-school Brooklyn brick backdrop are a must do while at the brewery event. All event schedules can be seen on Brooklyn Brewery’s website as well as current seasonal brews and recipe ideas for things that pair up well with their beers.

If you are coming by train, the Brooklyn Brewery is easily accessed from any part of the city by taking either the L or G trains; the short walk from the train stop adds to the anticipation. Or, you can make the trip by car, as the Brewery is just a short drive over the Williamsburg Bridge. Detailed driving directions are given on the brewery web-site.

A trip to the Brooklyn Brewery isn’t your average trip to the bar; it is a fantastic experience that can be educational as well. Anyone who is interested in more than just throwing back a couple of cold ones will enjoy the no frills, ‘nothing but the beer’ atmosphere as well as the very knowledgeable and friendly staff who are just as happy serving beer as they are talking it and the brewing process.

The complete address of the Brooklyn Brewery is as follows:

This is one of my fav places to hit up for happy hour. The tours on Saturday are cool too. They should open the BK Brewery for baseball or football games, that would be awesome!
